Let's all commit to a sustainable world

At the end of 2021 we made an important commitment that will shape our sustainability efforts for years to come.

We have pledged to reduce our global carbon footprint meaningfully, measurably, and in a way that reflects the urgency of the climate crisis.

We are doing this because we are in a unique position to influence global industry and make a difference, but also because it quite simply is the right thing to do.

By signing up to emissions reduction and net zero journeys under the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we are committing to setting ambitious targets in line with what climate science tells us is necessary - and to being held accountable to them.

We start by developing both near-term emissions reduction and longer-term net zero targets with the help of SBTi guidance, with a view to officially submitting our targets for approval and start measuring our performance against them in 2023.

You can track our progress on the SBTi dashboard, where our targets will be published once confirmed. Currently we are listed as “committed” to setting near-term and net zero targets.

Why science-based targets?

Science-based targets are emission reduction and net zero targets that are in line with what climate scientists agree is necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and avoid climate catastrophe:

  • limit global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, and
  • pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.

They show how much and how quickly individual organisations need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change.

The Science-Based Targets initiative is a global coalition of partners (including the UN and the World Wide Fund for Nature) whose aim it is to drive ambitious climate action in the private sector. They provide standards, guidance and best practice, as well as reviewing, approving and tracking companies’ climate action targets.

We encourage all suppliers, partners, customers and peers to join us and over 2000 fellow businesses from around the world in setting targets that reflect the urgency of the climate crisis.
