In his opening speech, His Excellency the Danish Ambassador to India stated:
“In 2020, India and Denmark launched the Green Strategic Partnership. Both countries have ambitious goals within the climate agenda. India is the world’s third largest CO2 emitter and by 2030, the country is expected to double its carbon emissions. Denmark has an ambition to reduce CO2 emissions to 70% by 2030 and aims to undertake international leadership on SDG 7 on affordable and clean energy.
Together, India and Denmark will demonstrate to the world that delivering on ambitious climate and sustainable energy goals is possible. In 2021, DISA India Ltd were the first among their peers to commit to setting ambitious emissions reduction targets under the Science-Based Targets Initiative. They have pledged to reduce their global carbon footprint meaningfully, measurably, and in a way that reflects the urgency of the climate crisis. This commitment to sustainability and vision to implement can be a great game changer in the coming days”.
