Castalloy Plant Metallurgist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a metallurgy or materials graduate to join our technical team at Castalloy Europe

Castalloy Europe is a leading producer of specialised wear resisting, heat resisting and general engineering castings supplying into a diverse range of manufacturing sectors such as power generation, cement production, pumps, mineral processing, and surface preparation.

We are recruiting a graduate with a metallurgy or materials science background to support our European facility located in the West Midlands, UK.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of a small dynamic technical team with responsibility for the metallurgical control at the facility.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring conformance to all specifications, manuals, procedures, and instructions related to the metallurgical function.
  • Providing technical input for New Product Introductions.
  • Promoting improvements to existing processes control.
  • Presenting technical information to colleagues and to be a source of metallurgical support and expertise.
  • Participating in Group technical discussions and contribute to shared best practice.
  • Undertaking detailed root cause investigations and analysis of production issues.
  • Metallurgical examination and reporting of customer concerns.
  • Providing technical support for metals analysis.

Applicants will need to demonstrate:

  • A degree in metallurgy or materials science
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and determined
  • An excellent team player
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
