UK Assistant Finance Manager


A new role created to provide support to the UK Finance Manager. The role has wide scope of duties, encompassing all aspects of the accounting function. An innovator who can review current ways of working and make improvements, digitalising processes and implement change. Suitable for a qualified accountant looking to develop their role in a busy, well established accounts department of 10 people.


  • Assisting the UK Finance Manager
  • Corporate Finance reporting
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Financial Audit
  • Statutory accounts and annual tax returns
  • Ensuring the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax issues
  • Managing a team of 2 direct reports responsible for purchase ledger and general finance administration
  • Project management

Specific tasks:

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Financial journal creation and entry
  • Assisting in the monthly P&L forecasting
  • Assisting in monthly Group Finance reporting to strict deadlines 
  • Responsible for quarterly VAT returns
  • Assisting in the annual financial audit 
  • Assisting in the preparation and reporting of the statutory accounts 
  • Assisting in the preparation and reporting of the annual tax return 
  • Monitoring cashflow
  • Assisting in the annual budget preparation and analysis
  • Management of direct reports, 1:2:1s, appraisals, objective setting 
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis

Personal Characteristics:


  •  The ability to work well in a team and collaborate with others
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to actively listen to others and relay information clearly at all levels of Management
  • Strong organisational skills as the role requires working to tight deadlines

Professional experience & background: 

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Qualified accountant 
  • Working knowledge of general accounting procedures and IFRS 
  • IT literate, including knowledge of relevant accounting software and ERP systems
