We are seeking a new candidate for a new StrikoWestofen Magnesium Design Expert position at Norican. This role is focusing on the management and coordination of mechanical design of SWO dosing and melting furnace and continuing to lead the development of magnesium furnaces.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design of electric-heated magnesium furnaces
- Collaborate with thermal and process engineers to optimize furnace performance for HPDC applications.
- Ensure designs meet safety standards for magnesium processing
- Support prototyping, testing, and validation of furnace systems.
- Work with the German Technology Center (TC) to align designs with global standards and facilitate knowledge transfer.
Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for high-temperature industrial equipment (e.g., furnaces, molten metal handling systems).
- Expertise in magnesium alloy processing challenges (e.g., oxidation, corrosion, thermal management).
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, ) and finite element analysis (FEA) for thermal/structural simulation.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes for high-performance alloys (e.g., bimetallic crucibles, insulation materials).
Specific Tasks:
- To establish project design plan and follow up with process
- Be responsible for project mechanical design & improvement
- Coordination and communication with other departments to solve problems encountered in the design process
- Provide technical support for service engineers or customers and help solve problems.
- Supporting the sales for the layout or detailed design if necessary
